Country gastro pub with an emphasis on locally sourced food and Yorkshire beer. The modern British menu often includes local game. It is in the Good Food Guide and booking is advisable. The interior is a mix of rustic wooden and upholstered furniture. There are two open fires in winter, and a pleasant garden that leads down to the River Ouse. The pub welcomes cyclists although it is on the A19 it is very close the designated cycle routes. The pub is handily placed for the bus to & from York. Guest beers are from Yorkshire breweries.
