Imposing roadside pub, orientated at right-angles to the road; main entrance off car park. Smart, comfortable public bar with beamed ceiling, and an even smarter large two-section lounge/dining area (step down to lower section), also with beamed ceiling.
Fairly standard menu, but good value, pub food; separate lunch menu (12 noon to 3pm Monday to Saturday).
Wheelchair access to most of the pub, but no disabled toilet facilities.
Due to limited demand, real ale appears to have been abandoned for the time being! (As at March 2023.)
Historic Interest
Earliest known reference in 1830 as the 'Park Gate', when privately owned by a local (Burton) brewer. Recorded in 1871 as a toll-gate. Sold in 1891 to Burton brewer John Thompson (later merged with Marston’s in 1898, and then with Evershed’s in 1905).
Gate Inn, Stanton
