An impressive Wetherspoon conversion of the former Savoy cinema and named after the man who designed it. Many original features have been retained and restored including some of the seats which fold up when you stand. The former ticket office leads to the bar. At the back there is an area upstairs where the screen used to be. The pub is watched over by models of movie goers sitting in the balcony. Outside there is a small beer garden.

A Wetherspoon's pub in the Grade C-listed old Savoy cinema, which dates from 1929 and was designed in a neo-classical style by John Fairweather after whom the pub is named. Many of the old features have been retained and restored. The pub is watched over by old movie stars sitting on the balcony. Several real ales and meals.
