Built in 1877 as a home for the industrialist J E Wainhouse, whose name is now associated with the nearby tower. The pub became freehold in late 2014, serving 2 Thwaites and 3 guest beers and a comprehensive wine list.
The long front lounge, with its many windows, has horns displayed over the bar. Up a few steps from the entrance is much bigger room with a long bar and plenty of seating, including cane sofas. There's a pool table, a large screen television in one corner and pictures of old Halifax for you to peruse. The upstairs function room has had a refurb with more work to come starting early in 2015 with the installation of a log burner and new signage & external lighting.
