Believed to be of 17th century construction, the black and white exterior dates from the early 1900s. This historic, small, traditional pub is located just inside North Bar close to St Mary's Church. There are two separate drinking areas with shared bar and significant outside space for the summer months. The small front bar has bench seating while the rear lounge bar is more comfortable. Up to four hand-pulls dispense regional and national beers. Supports various local charities.
Small pub occupying an old, possibly seventeenth century, building, that acquired its present ‘dram shop’ frontage in 1875. It was owned for many years by the Thorne brewers Darley & Co and although its back parts have been altered in recent times, it retains its traditional front bar (the former dram shop) with distinctive old bentwood seating.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 3 regular beers.
