Dog friendly and ever popular with walkers and hikers, this privately owned and run 13th-century inn lies on the old coaching route from Porlock to Lynmouth. The unspoilt interior has low ceilings, blackened beams and stone fireplaces. Four real ales are usually available, including a very good house beer and at least one guest. Good food from an extensive menu is served all day, except between three and six during the winter months.Now owned by St Austell brewery.
