The part Grade II Listed Black Boy opened as an ale house in 1754 with the first known licensee recorded as Thomas Goodson, almost certainly making it one of the oldest public houses in the area. The bar area has original oak beams and a flagstone floor, with two seating areas at either end. It is community pub with three football teams, four darts team,a flourishing golf society, and shooting societies. Outdoor drinking and live music can be enjoyed in the terraced garden set on three levels. An annual "Bricket Wood Stock" festival takes places every Sunday afternoon in July and August. Charity pub quiz last Thursday of the month and Friday night "Play Your Cards Right", also a charity event. Most major sporting events also televised across five large television screens, one being outdoors in the smoking area, heated by a very impressive outdoor fire. Currently a happy hour runs on Mon-Thur 2pm-7pm with 50p off per pint.
