New ownership by St Annes brewery of Lea Cross in June 2018. During 2020/21, a major renovation took place prior to re-opening and re-naming in May 2021.
Serves up to six beers, but often has fewer.
The two level former interior has gone with the pub now consisting of one large room with a modern contemporary feel. The bar has moved from the rear of the pub to the right hand side. The toilets are on the same level which has greatly improved access for disabled patrons.
Conveniently placed for the railway station, which is literally across the road.
The building to the left of the pub has been aquired for expansion. Planned to open in 2023 as a quieter room.
Bank Holiday Monday opening from 11:00.
A mark up for half pints of beer.
Historic Interest
In its early days the Albion was acquired by the Wrexham Brewery, before being an Ansells pub for many years. The pub sign is now a relic of the past. Burtonwood bought the pub when Ansells sold off their estate, then in 2005 Burtonwood stopped brewing and sold their pub estate to Marston's. One of the 15 pubs in the Branch area appearing in the 1974 Good Beer Guide (GBG). It was brief but here's what it said! "Ansells, Small friendly pub". It then threatened to become a GBG regular with several appearances at the end of that decade but has only appeared once since (in 1995).
This Pub serves 5 changing beers and 1 regular beer.
