Recently reopened under new management, this locally owned, free house has several drinking areas. Close to main shopping areas and bus and train stations. Handy for visiting the nearby Minster and the historic Chapel on the Bridge. The single real ale comes from the local Chantry Brewery. Often busy in the daytime and early evening. There is an outside yard area. Very competitively priced real ale. Closed due to flood damage on 14th November 2019, but reopened by December 20th.
Historic Interest
Earliest date 1758, when it was known as the Bull. This had changed to the Angel Hotel by 1783, it was rebuilt in 1915, when Bridgegate was widened, to the designs of H. L.Tacon.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 1 regular beer.
