Dating from an 1865 rebuild, after several years as a burger restaurant and more briefly as American bar brand Genuine Liquorette, this site reopened at the end of 2021 as the Black Horse again.

The venue serves cocktails and craft beers but no cask ales. There is a cocktail bar upstairs.

The food offering is mediterranean-style small plates, plus pizzas.

Historic Interest

In its days as an authentic boozer, the poet Dylan Thomas was once told “We don’t want your sort in here”.
