A pub that stands out in a commanding position on the corner of Crown Street and Albert Avenue. Its history includes it being the home during the 1870's of the Loyal Maindee Lodge of Oddfellows while in 1879 it was the venue of an inquest into the suicide of a war hero, John Byrne VC.
