The Feathers is set back slightly from the Market Place and backs onto a convenient public car park. It was once an ale house with stabling attached and there is an early reference to the inn in 1654.
Ashton Gate Brewery of Bristol owned the Feathers at the beginning of the 20th-century, then ownership passing through takeovers to Georges' Bristol Brewery and eventually Courage. It is now owned by a small Yorkshire based pub company.
Today the Feathers is a non-pretentious yet welcoming local pub. The new tenants have re-introduced live music and plan to refurbish the premises and tidy up the small garden / smoking area to the rear of the building. There are no immediate plans to re-introduce real ales - the hand pumps have been removed.
The pub signs have faded to such an extent that the ghost lettering of 'the Albion' is now clearly visible. The pub signs have been salvaged from another pub before being hung at the Feathers.
