This 17th-century thatched pub with five bespoke bedrooms is a popular rural destination. Its large single-room layout has an open fire at one end and steps to a covered terrace and large garden at the other. In between is a long bar with multiple handpumps.
Chef Duncan Jones took over the pub in November 2019. The brewhouse, in a corner of the rear garden, now brews Wickham Ales.
A changing menu of excellent home-cooked food attracts passers-by and locals alike. The menu includes steaks, pies, burgers and beer battered haddock with vegetarian options. Nearby footpaths offer walking opportunities.
