Ex Lacons and Whitbread pub, it was once the tram terminus in the town centre. Large well appointed multi-roomed pub with plenty of comfortable seating. Separate games room with two pool tables. Now with food lunch and evenings. Large enclosed rear garden with seating and slides etc. Reopened with a new management team, short term lease.Plans afoot to introduce food and live music. Historic Interest
Opened as a Beerhouse in 1865 known as The Gate, which the pub name has now reverted back to. The garden was formerly a bowling green.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 1 regular beer.
