The pub was closed by owner Charles Wells mid 2020, and was sold to a property developer, who submitted a planning application for change to housing. A community action group – the Friends Of The Half Moon - was formed and the pub registered as an Asset of Community Value in April 2021, and as result the planning application was withdrawn.
