A much improved cosy town centre pub renowned for one of the best pints of Bass around (subject to availability). Although essentially an open plan single room pub, it's divided into four distinct areas which works well with comfy sofas intermingled with more traditional seating & real fire. Six hand-pumps in excellent condition can be found on the central bar serving two permanent beers and up to four guests. In the words of the licensee, a traditional boozer.
Thai & English food are available at lunchtime.
The upstairs of the pub will catch you by surprise after walking through the large covered outside smoking & outside seating area. Almost a complete standalone pub in its own right with its own bar, toilets & smoking area. Seating for 32, this area can be booked for private parties and meetings.
The smoking area is complemented by heaters for those colder nights. Whilst the pub doesn't have its own car park, it's right next to a pay & display public car park.
There is occasional live music - keep an eye on posters and the website for more details. Finally, a book and film lending library make the Jolly Sailor a great addition to the increasingly popular Sunderland Street crawl in Macclesfield.
Special note should be made of an original and working Space Invaders machine which is now upstairs.
This Pub serves 4 changing beers and 2 regular beers.
