Situated alongside the Ashby Canal, where it crosses the A5, the pub was originally an 18th-century coaching inn. It is now a brewpub and offers free garden side moorings, a large canal side beer garden with a functions marquee. The first floor lounge has canal views and an open fire in winter. The downstairs room has been renovated (October 2017) and has level access to the garden.
