Re-opened in 2018 after some years as an Italian restaurant then a period of complete closure. Initially, one real ale was served but sadly that has now gone by the wayside. A good local reputation for food has been established.
The pub picked up al CAMRA pub design award in 1992 in the conservation category. The building is around 900 years old (built in 1154) and has graffiti dating back hundreds of years. The interior is split over 4 levels from the basement room and toilets, through to the rafters area above the main bar. The gents toilets have a resident ghost, but I haven't met up with him yet.
