16th century pub on the original Drover's route towards Kendal from Cumberland to Westmorland. Situated on the B6260 between Appleby and Tebay, the tiny pub has a long history of licensee's since the First World War. Having opened and closed several times, it is now in the safe ownership of Scarborough bred Arron and his wife, who assure everyone of a warm welcome and a toasty stove in the winter. Hot food available in times shown. Two real ales on hand-pump which vary from Cumbrian to Yorkshire, occasionally from Malvern Hills. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
