17th century, thatched timber-frame construction with 19th and 20th century extensions. Consisting of a public bar in the oldest region, refurbished lounge bar and restaurant in the newer sector, while across the yard is a skittles long alley which doubles as a function room. Exposed ceiling timbers and genuine leaded light windows combine to create an oldie worldie ambiance. Former licensees’ names on ceiling beams include (from 1970’s) the legendary Mike Stringfellow following fourteen seasons playing for Leicester City.
