Proud to be the first pub on the Thames, the Red Lion is ideally positioned for walkers on the Thames Path, or canoeists on the river. Large gardens extend down to the river, which is also visible from the 32-seat conservatory restaurant.

Fully refurbished in October 2019 the interior is now smart and welcoming. There is an extensive menu with everything from big plates for foodies to smaller plates and pizza for a lighter bite.

Historic Interest

An ancient building with missing early deeds. William Smith was licensee in 1841. Bought by the Cirencester Brewery in 1925, then by Ushers in 1991. It became a Donnington pub in December 2012.
