Situated on Manchester Road at the junction with Carr Road, the Royal Oak was closed from 2019. It reopened in July 2023. A major refurbishment has resulted in new smart decor, new carpets, furniture and seat coverings. Also available are a pool table and a hi-tech juke box. There are plans to introduce a food menu.
Historic Interest
A beerhouse in the early 19th century: owner Benjamin Couldwell applied for a full license in 1836. the pub was situated on the turnpike road between Manchester and Sheffield. (Pearson, C. (2020),'A Drink with our Ancestors,' page 72).
