This wattle and daub Tudor style house dates from 1737 and is situated 200 yards from the town centre. Inside, there are two rooms linked by a central bar which house an eclectic mix of seating, including wooden settles. The pub has sports TV although at most times, conversation reigns. The spacious rear garden includes a children's play area and ample seating.

As at November 2017, the Stag freehold (NT344040) was held by Punch Partnerships (PML) Limited [Reg. No. 3321199] and was transferred to Patron Capital on the 5th March 2018.
