Named after an old steamship, The Vigilant is an imposing red brick pub, adorned with many hanging baskets , in Harton, South Shields, managed by a friendly landlord . On entering there is a large bar with two changing handpulls in use (Oct 21), There is a smaller bar area to the rear. There is a quiz held every Monday and Karaoke on Saturday. evening. Music night popular on Sunday evening. Frequent buses pass the door , for South Shields or Sunderland. Small car park to the rear.
