The pub is named after a Waxy O'Connor born in Dublin in 1788 who made his living as a candle-maker and hence the nickname Waxy. It promotes itself as London's biggest and best Irish bar, with four separate bar areas across six levels of the building (although with its centrepiece indoor tree the decor is more reminiscent of Elvenhome). Function areas may be booked. London Irish events take place here, and St. Patrick's day can last all week! All-day food, and three-third-pints of Irish beer may be ordered but there is no real ale.
This pub is in a very central touristy location and the clientele (and prices) reflect the area.
