Dating from circa 1860, the William Walker is located between Winchester's retail high street and cathedral. It is named after the diver who worked for six years diving up to six metres down in muddy water, working blind, and replacing the cathedral's rotting wood foundations with concrete, so saving the cathedral from collapse. Presumably, this is the inspiration for the ancient submarine-style interior, including copper topped bar/tables and wooden flooring. The menu offers a small range of gastro pub food.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer and 2 regular beers.
