Three-times CAMRA local Pub of the Year, this spacious Wetherspoon establishment was totally refurbished in 2016 and the upper floor returned to accommodation use, comprising 36 rooms in this imposing Victorian railway hotel. Comprising two large bar areas, it also has a front and rear snug plus a seated patio area. It is always busy, particularly at weekends. Good-value meals are served from opening until late. Up to eight guest beers are available, together with cider. Located in the town centre, it is on most bus routes and adjacent to the railway station.
