Popular with the local population, this pub is situated on a prominent location overlooking the junction of Victoria Road and Stony Lane. Believed to have originally been built in 1794 for the brewer to the Lord of the Manor, the Stanhope family. However, the current building is obviously far more recent than that. It comprises a single open-plan lounge bar with good views and modern, olde worlde décor. No real ale is served here and there are no plans to offer it in the foreseeable future. A pool table is located in an alcove at one end of the room. On Thursday evenings, there are live vocalists with guests. A DJ plays on Saturdays and Sundays.
