Occupies a corner plot on the edge of Oxton village, a lively pub with poker night on Tuesday, quiz on Thursday, curry night Thursday and live music on Saturday. One guest beer but not during summer months.
Historic Interest
Dating from at least 1845, listed in Bagshaw's Directory of 1850. An Argyle Brewery pub transferred to Birkenhead Brewery in 1866. Known as the Hughes Hotel it was acquired by West Cheshire Brewery in 1900. The date of the old photo is unknown but possibly up to the 1920s. Serving Whitbread beer into the 1980s.
