Bright lively traditional local opened up into a single bar area. Regular beers may be replaced by guests occasionally. Sandwiches available and hot snacks at half time during live football matches. The black & white photo shows the pub in 1984.

Listed in Bagshaw's Directory in 1850, an Argyle Brewery pub transferred to Birkenhead Brewery in 1866. Later a West Cheshire Brewery pub. Described in 1980 as a pleasant friendly local selling Whitbread Special Cask Bitter.
