With its low beamed ceilings, this is a pleasant pub which has a cosy lounge, a separate public bar, and two dining areas, one of which can be hired out for functions. It also has a well under the bar, which can be illuminated if you ask!
Walkers will be pleased to know that the pub is situated right on the Offa's Dyke long distance footpath, despite modern Welsh frontier being some 3 miles to the west. And just a footnote about Trefonen. It is Welsh for "Town of the Ash Trees". The pub is on a bus route, but the service offered is extremely limited, to say the least!
Until the first Lockdown the pub produced Offa's Dyke beers in the brewhouse to the right of the pub. The kit is stll in situ and it is hoped to resume brewing sometime in the future.
