Historic Interest
A fine Victorian public house and the last pub in Hyson Green. Originally the Birkin Avenue Hotel, it became a commercial hotel called the Avenue Hotel but known locally as the "Clock" because of the large public clock above the corner door. in 1986 it was officially renamed as the Clock, with a brief period as the "Wheeltappers at the Clock" (Whitworth 2010).
In 1889, the Birkin Avenue Hotel was a beerhouse under John Kennedy (Wright).
As at November 2017 the freehold for the Clock (NT344944) was held by PARTY CELEBRATIONS LIMITED (Reg. No. 7815908).
