An earlier beerhouse called the Barley Mow existed on this site from the mid 19th century. The current pub was built as the Airman in 1930 by brewer Charles Wells. The pub was enlarged and converted into the privately run Carriage House Hotel in 1999, later reverting to Airman Hotel in spring 2010. It has a very pleasant bar with comfortable lounge seating, plus a large screen TV and pool table in a separate section. Bar meals are available and there is a 50 seat restaurant offering freshly cooked food from A la Carte Menu. Caters mainly for business functions and weddings.
