The Alum Ale House is situated on the south bank of the River Tyne, adjacent to the Ferry Landing and close to the Market Place. The open-plan bar, with up to 10 real ales is the venue for a lively Irish music session on the first Sunday of the month. Note the large blackboard detailing beers available, style strength and price and the new style Hobgoblin handpull on the left of the row of other handpulls. There is decking and seating outside overlooks the river. Note no children allowed inside the pub. Food is limited to toasties and bar snacks.
