Large pub, now much extended; the original was opened in September 1932 by Garne’s brewery, a speculative development at the time in the early days of the air base. It has two large rooms and outdoor seating. Note the unusual beer taps: the keg fonts drop down from above the bar, and the real ale fonts are electric pumps that look like hand pumps. Opens at 10.30am for breakfast, coffee, and cake. Now run by Butcombe Brewery.
