Situated in lower Heswall this large four storey pub was r built about 1900 and was formerly the Heswall Hotel. It comprises a stone built central section with a mock timber frame on the top two floors making this an attractive imposing building. The sports TV can dominate. Three rotating cask beers. Quiz on Thursday at 8pm. The old photo was taken in 1980.
Historic Interest
Rebuilt on site of former Black Horse about 1900 and renamed the Heswall Hotel. Owned by Bent’s Brewery from 1902 and by Bass from 1967 Bass. Old photos show the Heswall Hotel in the early 1900s. Changed name back to the Black Horse in 1940. Described in 1980 as a justly popular village pub serving Bass 4X Mild, Cask Bitter and Draught Bass.
