Attractive half-timbered building on the Dee Estuary overlooking an RSPB nature reserve. Bought by Hydes in 2016, refurbished and reopened in 2017. It has a spacious and comfortable interior, good food, and an outside terrace where it is great to sit and enjoy a pint in good weather. Occasional high tides can lap up against the pub walls. Although modernised, the pub has retained its character. There are nooks and recesses, old photos of Parkgate and old style lamps. A haven for nature lovers, good beer and food fans alike.
Historic Interest
The previous pub was badly damaged by a storm in 1881, demolished 4 years later and the site was unoccupied for 40 years. The present building dates from 1926 as a cafe and became a pub again in the early 1960s, being enlarged in 1977.
This Pub serves 1 changing beer (From Hydes/Ralf & Alf range) and 2 regular beers.
