Large Joule's village centre pub
Located at the centre of the village, the Crown is the oldest pub in Codsall and has been licensed for over 180 years,
From 1967 until the early 80’s the pub hosted one of the leading jazz clubs in the West Midlands with an international guest list. All of the British major jazz bands and performers of the day played the club as well as American and European artists. Following its demise, the pub went through a number of operators and guises before being bought by Joule’s Brewery in 2015
Re-opened in March 2016, a major refurbishment has transformed it into a slightly grand Edwardian-style with a modern twist and features open fires, stained-glass windows, old beams and reclaimed furniture.
The island bar is at the centre of the large lounge which has been divided into separate, distinct areas. The former function room at the rear has been fitted out in the style of a library.
Four Joule’s beers are offered with another four changing guest beers which will include a dark style. A further handpump serves a guest cider. Also available on keg dispense is Joule’s Green Monkey lager, a number of continental beers and English ciders.
From Monday to Thursday, one beer is offered as ‘Ale of the Day’ at a reduced price.
The pub welcomes dogs and, not only provides free treats, but also a Canine Cuisine for a small charge, with optional gravy.
The pub is open from 10.30am for breakfasts.
Open mic on first Sunday and music on alternative Friday evenings.
