Built as a farm house and out buildings around 1672 and extensively renovated and extended when redeveloped, in more recent times, to become a hotel. In keeping with the original buildings the extended parts are aesthetically pleasingly constructed of local materials in the form of Mountsorrel granite walls and Swithland slate roofs. The main bar is a very large room off of which are some small dining rooms situated in the original farmhouse therefore unsurprisingly oozing with rural ambiance. A function room called the Charnwood suite is a set in what was originally the cow shed and the beer cellar in the former stables. Real cider is occasionally available. Guest beers may be from the Greene King list or other breweries supplied through Greene King.
