Large 17th century coaching inn recently re-opened, occupying a prominent position just off the market place and offering much needed town centre accommodation. Originally called the George and Dragon, it served Barton on the London to Hull route, but has also been used as an excise office, posting house and local government venue. The central bar serves several comfortable and spacious rooms. The Thursday evening quiz and Friday fish and chip specials are popular weekly events. Dogs are welcome in the snug.
