This cosy roadside pub is aptly named being situated about half way between Pontypool and Usk. Located in an attractive village, there is a pleasant front bar that has two sections each with a decorative fireplace. Down to the left of the bar is a restaurant and adjacent games room. A beer garden with a play-area is at the back, and this has a covered smoking area; there is also some seating at the front. Quiz nights on Wednesdays start at 9.15pm. Friday is darts night and if the impressive array of trophies on display is anything to go by, they throw a mean arrow here! The bus service is infrequent (about 2 hourly) but gives plenty of time for a leisurely meal and a couple of drinks here. In its Good Beer Guide heyday, it was a local outlet for Silverthorne ales which were once brewed nearby before relocating to Cwmbran.
