Parts of this pub are said to be 15th century and form one of the wings when it was rebuilt in the 17th century. It is a heavily beamed hostelry which was once a Benskins House and later Ind Coope. Although there is only one bar, there are many discrete areas in which to lose oneself.

Historic Interest

Grade II listing:- C17 or earlier timber-framed building with alterations. 2 storeys, 4 windows in all. Centre range half timbered with plaster filling; gabled crosswings now all rendered. Old tiled roofs with compound stack of narrow bricks on ridge of centre section. Projecting chimney on front of right crosswing. Modern 1-storey right extension continues left as pent hood along front of right crosswing. Modern leaded casements and modern doors. Some exposed timber inside.
