Restoration
The interior of the Magpie is a replica. Built in 1933, this is one of many Carlisle pubs designed for the State Management Scheme, that is they were owned and run by the Government. In 2010 it was restored to how it was when built with quality bar fittings and partitions. Toilets, windows and a tiled floor are mostly original. The pub won the CAMRA Best Refurbishment Award in 2011 and is Grade II listed. Now operated by Sam Smiths, there are no real ales or meals.
