Dated from 1767. Originally a single building. Red brick; 3 storeys; Inserted modern and early 19C shop fronts (the former with glazing bars). Lively town centre pub with emphasis on beer. Regularly hosts live bands on Saturday nights and Folk/Unplugged on Tuesdays. Food available at sister operation across the cobbles-The Crown, now known as the Saxon Grill at the Crown.
