Once threatened by closure but saved by a village consortium, the Royal Oak is now run by Lanvar Ltd, a group of 34 villagers. When the last tenant left in 2016 the pub was run by six volunteer directors and the manager Caitlin Begley. In late 2018 the lease was taken over by Woods Brewery of Wistanstow, Shropshire and thoroughly refurbished. A thriving pub at the centre of the community and is the hub of charity fundraising in the village. The interior is split into a lounge area, a restaurant and an area with a dartboard and a pool table. There are usually three guest beers in the summer, two in winter. The pub is about a mile north east of the Shropshire Union Canal at High Onn Bridge.
