Situated in Beamish Museum’s 1900s Town, The Sun Inn was moved brick by brick from Bishop Auckland. It has a bar and a snug reproducing the era and will transport visitors back in time as they enjoy the atmosphere of an Edwardian pub.
The Sun Inn features ales from local breweries, as well as an expanding offer of drinks including bespoke wines and gin, as well as whisky, vodka and cider.
Visitors to the Sun Inn can also enjoy traditional pub snacks, including a range of locally supplied and bespoke Scotch eggs (including a vegetarian option).
Settle in next to the pub’s roaring fire and pass the time playing dominoes or cards, while sampling some of the tasty treats on offer.

Situated in The Edwardian Town area of Beamish Open Air Museum, The Sun was moved brick-by-brick from Bishop Auckland. It has a bar and a snug reproducing the era. An entry fee is payable to enter the museum grounds and to visit the pub. It is worth it for an authentic and delightful representation of an old pub. There is real ale but no food. Open only during museum hours and not in the evenings.
