Deceptively placid Courage pub drawing on its historic aspect and proximity to Loring Hall. There is a public bar, dining saloon, and large undercover outside areas. Drinkers might ponder the former saloon through-door or the 'knitted cakes' with the odd pint. Best reached and left by northbound transport to avoid crossing the busy dual carriageway.
There are two hand pumps (in the public bar), both of which are normally in use.
The management of this pub changed hands in May 2023. The saloon area is now more open than it was, and tables are no longer in rows.
Note that the pub sometimes closes at 10pm during the week if there's insufficient custom.
This Pub serves no changing beers and 1 regular beer.
