Free house dating from the 19th century. Child and dog friendly. Close to the Oxfordshire way.
After a successful campaign to purchase the pub by the local community, it is currently being run as a pop-up pub / cafe at the weekends while the building undergoes renovation.
Community Owned
Freehold Owner: Community Benefit Society. Year Purchased 2022.
The pub closed in March 2020. The Stonesfield Community Pub Limited was formed (as a Community Benefit Society CBS) to campaign to get this pub reopened. The ACV moratorium period was triggered and the and community share scheme was launched. Despite raising more than sufficient funds to cover the asking price of £395K, the owner sold the pub to a property developer. After many attempts the pub society finally completed a purchase of the freehold of the pub. Work is now underway to refurbish pub and undo the changes by the previous owner to convert the pub into a house.
