Unspoilt 'village' pub, now in the Nottingham suburbs, locally known as the Top House. A number of small rooms, on different levels, provide varied views of the pub. A large garden contains a children's play area and a chicken run! Patio area located at rear of pub.

Historic Interest

The White Lion has an entry on Nottinghamshire County Council's Historic Environment Record (HER) No. M10046 and is a former Hardys & Hansons pub.

The White Lion was registered as an Asset of Community Value on the 2nd November 2016 and was nominated by the Nottingham Branch of CAMRA. This expired on the 1st November 2021.

In 1855, the White Lion was a fully licensed establishment under J. Buckland and in 1876 under John Edwards (Post Office Directories).

The White Lion is a Grade II listed building (No. 1247962). "Mid C18 and mid C19. Brick with slate and concrete tile roofs. Rendered plinth, dentillated eaves, shouldered coped gables. Single ridge and 2 gable stacks. 2 storeys, 5 bays. L-plan. Front windows are C19 sashes and casements, mainly with segmental heads. Front has to left single storey and 2 storey additions with overhanging eaves carried on posts. To their right, door flanked by single sashes. To right again, brick and stone steps with scrolled iron handrail to part glazed door with overlight. Flanked by single casements. Above, to left, 2 sashes and scrolled iron sign bracket. To right, 3 casements. Rear has to left, gabled wing and outbuilding, and to right, 2 lean-to additions. Irregular fenestration, mostly C20" (Historic England).

As at November 2017, the freehold for the White Lion (NT34576) was held by Greene King Retailing Limited (5265451).
