Large Caldmore Taverns pub in the city centre, re-opened in October 2018 after a long period of closure. Note the interesting feature above the doorway.
Internally, Caldmore have done their usual fantastic job of rejuvenating the inside to a high standard. The pub comprises four different areas that extend around the bar in a lazy L-shape; two areas reach back towards the toilets, while a small snug behind the bar completes the picture.
The house beer, Woodman Pale, is brewed by Facer's of Flint. The seven guest ales comprise both local brews and those from further afield and two ciders are served for the apple enthusiast.
Oatcakes and snacks are available and there are monthly live band nights.
A good traditional hostelry for an area lacking in such places.
Awards: CAMRA Potteries Pub of the Month October 2019.
Restoration
This large Caldmore Taverns pub in the city centre re-opened in 2018 after a long closure. It is a typical, sturdy, red brick building with its main door on the corner that has an interesting picture in plaster above, of a woodman in a forest. Internally, four different areas extend around the bar and a snug nestles behind. The pub has been rejuvenated to a high standard to create a traditional hostelry in an area otherwise lacking. The sympathetic restoration has used much wood and other materials to cherish an attractive and characterful pub. Real ales, real ciders and snacks are served.
This Pub serves 7 changing beers and 0 regular beers.
